“Feminism now means you don't always do the dishes, or that you look down your nose at women's magazines, rather than meaning you fight capitalist systems that enable continued attacks on the poorest and most vulnerable.”

― Dawn Foster, Lean Out

Republic of Wooden Ceilings is a self-proclaimed autonomy. It have no territory, no official language. The Citizens are women of different color and sizes. Speaking different languages yet the unity and similarities are the bound of this society.

But Republic of Wooden Celings is far far away from a utopian vision, it is actually next to us.

Republic of Wooden Cellings is a commentary to recent protests of housekeepers in Iceland and summary of personal experiences during over 6 years of immigration in two different countries. It is a collection of stories, images, sounds that are showing immigration from perspective of women from country seen as a source of cheap working labor around Europe. It is a story of dishwasher, waitress, housekeeper.

It is polemic with an ideas and forms of main feminism movement which excludes women of color and foreign origins by not giving them a same treatment as the locals.

At least but not last Republic of Wooden Ceilings is cracking down an idea of glass ceilings and bringing new term of Wooden Ceilings that are under. Women immigrants as they are not able even to reach glass ceilings because of their gender, origins and class.
